ABOUT US

SACRED THREAD

DESIGN.
EMPOWERMENT.
TECHNOLOGY. IMPACT.

The Sacred Thread Foundation is the bridge between the ancestral culture of the Wayuu communities and the outside world. Through education, we work to empower communities economically and develop sustainably. We provide them with the necessary tools to become microentrepreneurs, providing them with training and workshops so they can take ownership of their work and escape extreme poverty.

Our Figures

The Sacred Thread Foundation generates a significant impact in Wayuu communities, working with eight communities and training 184 artisans, 94% of them women. Thanks to its programs, artisans' income has increased by 600%. Additionally, they have developed three independent Wayuu brands, delivered more than 3,900 school kits since 2016, and participated in 23 national and international fairs. With initiatives such as sewing workshops, training for women leaders, installing solar lamps and water filters, and creating a school and a reading club, the Foundation demonstrates its comprehensive commitment to sustainable development and gender equality.
