CULTIVATING Food Security
The Sowing Dreams project grew thanks to the help of one of our volunteers, a botanical expert. He led the effort to plant plants capable of surviving the arid conditions of La Guajira.
The main objective of this work was to introduce the community to the idea that they can be self-sufficient. To this end, we held a series of workshops on crop management and taught them what types of plants are suitable for growing in that area.
Given the extreme aridity, lack of water, and high temperatures, food production is difficult to supply. Therefore, Sembrando Sueños sought more options to provide nutritional alternatives, especially for the youngest children, who represent the future of the community. In fact, they are the ones who primarily received the knowledge on crop management.
Our project is designed to empower the Wayuu community economically and provide a sustainable future for their children. Let us not forget that everything cultivated with love bears good fruit in the harvest.
